Philosophy, Ideology and History:

A Futuristic Examination from Modern Europe to W.E.B. Du Bois and James Baldwin

War, poverty, white supremacy and inequality consume the lives of billions throughout the world and the majority in our nation. The 1%, the oligarchs and the ruling class generally are consumed in universal selfishness and hatred of the people. In times like these the people ask, what can be done? Part of answering such a question turns us to ideas, philosophy and ideology. For those who seek to know the world in order to change it, our time calls for a deep examination of society and its assumptions. We welcome all to a series of lectures and discussions led by Dr. Anthony Monteiro which will address the great modern philosophers including Descartes, Hegel, Marx and conclude with the philosophies of those in the Black Radical tradition like W.E.B Du Bois, Martin Luther King Jr. and James Baldwin. This series is dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of VI Lenin, and will take place every Sunday in April from 2-4 pm. All are welcome!
